Laurie Capitelli

Laurie came to Berkeley as a Cal student in 1964. After teaching for a few years, he joined Red Oak Realty in 1978. He became Sales Manager in 1998, bringing a broad range of experience in commercial as well as residential sales. Laurie's real estate experience also includes serving as President of the Berkeley Association of Realtors and State director of the California Association of Realtors. In 2000, he became a Red Oak Realty Partner.

In 2004, with his election to the Berkeley City Council he began to step back from fulltime management. In 2008, Red Oak turned management of the company over to Vanessa Bergmark (General Manager / Partner) and Kevin Hamilton (Finance & Operations Director / Partner).

Over his 30+ year career Laurie has represented over 600 buyers and sellers. Laurie has developed over 90 units of housing and rehabed several commercial properties in career. He has worked with local nonprofit housing groups to help develop affordable housing. Twice, he was selected "Realtor Of The Year" by the Berkeley Association of Realtors.

He currently serves on the city council while also serving as a board member of the Elmwood Theatre Foundation and the Berkeley Public Education Foundation. He also has served on the Berkeley Planning Commission and the Zoning Adjustment Board for the city.

He often works in tandem with his colleague Marjorie Sperber. He and Marjorie have worked together since she joined him at Red Oak in 1982.
