I feel absolutely privileged to live, work and play in one of the most vibrant and beautiful places in the world. As a Realtor I serve Oakland, Berkeley and their surrounding communities, as well as San Francisco and south to Brisbane. Since 1998 my top priority has been providing individualized attention and flexibility to each and every one of my clients. No two people are alike; each individual needs and deserves to be treated with special care. I am tirelessly dedicated to my clients, and my clients count on me for results -- you can too!
I was born and raised in Berkeley to a father who was a concert pianist and taught at UC and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. My mother was an opera singer of Icelandic heritage who sang all over the world with the San Francisco Opera. When she wasn’t singing opera, my mother was in musicals. Frequently she got my sister and me into the shows (like the Sound of Music) and we toured the whole country.
When my father passed away we moved to Manhattan where I attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, the New Lincoln School and the High School of Performing Arts (PA). I left PA to study in the Freshman Year Program at the New School for Social Research and matriculated to UCSB where I majored in Literature with an emphasis in Dramatic Writing. Ultimately, after traveling the world and studying abroad, I wound up finishing my master degree in Theatre Direction at San Francisco State University. I moved back to the East Bay from San Francisco in the late 90s and have lived here since.
I founded Tour De Force Theater Company, and along the way achieved some success directing productions -- and winning awards for direction and production -- across the country. I taught theater at many universities including New College, St. Mary’s College, UCSB, and Suisun Valley College, among others -- always as a lecturer, never getting tenure. (I like to joke that in the United States you have to wait for someone to die before you get a tenured position in the humanities.) My last “job” in theater was Co-Artistic Director of the Eureka Theatre along with Lane Nishikawa and Benny Sato Ambush. I still direct occasionally and write scripts but enjoy “real reality” more than fiction. I also like to make sure all my “drama” is on the stage and not in my work!
I became a Realtor in 1998 and worked extensively in San Francisco, being a top producer for Century 21, and have been placed in the Grand Centurion Honor Society for my successes at that company. My company was bought by Alain Pinel, and I moved at that point to Red Oak Realty for a spell, and then came to Coldwell Banker where I was the Top Producer for 6 years. Before I left I was ranked #8 for Coldwell Banker in Northern California, and was among the top 1.000 Realtors for NRT (Coldwell Banker’s Parent Company which also owns Century 21, ERA, BHG and others), which is quite an accomplishment.
Two years ago I was honored to be voted onto the Board of Directors for the Oakland Association of Realtors, where I serve on the Budget Committee and the Executive Committee. I was recently re-elected for a second term and enjoy being able to aid my fellow Realtors in fighting for our rights as a profession as well as for the people we serve when legislators in city government attempt to do things that are not good for the normal homeowner in Oakland!
I am married and live in the Claremont Knolls in Berkeley behind the Claremont Hotel. We have 4 terrier mixes, 2 cats and 2 parrots. My husband makes me laugh all the time and we are very much in love with each other. After 16 years of being a Realtor I can truly say it is really a great profession and I am proud to participate in one of the most important parts of people’s financial lives. Being a Realtor has taught me so much about life and people, and I am always surprised by the kindness, generosity of spirit and great intelligence I meet along the way. Every day is very interesting for me. I love what I do.
