How I help Buyers
Together we develop a strategy for identifying and purchasing the property that is right for you. We will talk about the big three (location, size and condition) as well as other requirements specific to your needs.

Together at first, we will look at neighborhoods and homes to better understand your preferences.

I provide you with a wealth of reputable resources that include: lenders, home inspectors, pest control inspectors, contractors, and other specialists that may be needed in the course of making a successful transaction.

If you are a first time buyer I will educate you about the process from beginning to end by providing guidance and consultation in such a way that you will know what to expect ahead of time and that you will become the expert in selecting the home that is right for you.

You will receive daily property updates by email of homes, listed on the multiple listing service, that meet your stated requirements.

I will check in with you a minimum of one to two times each week to help us stay focused and to proactively deal with any problems that may arise.

My continual previewing of properties that come on the market will help you focus on viewing only those that most closely match your needs.

If you are a first time buyer I will show you special financing programs offered by the federal, state or city government as well as private sources that may save you money and help you afford to purchase.

My successful relationships with other agents will insure that your purchase offer, when submitted, receives the attention it deserves.

Bio
I am perhaps best known in the Bay area for my 20 plus years of dedicated service and leadership in the field of education. During these years, I have been entrusted with the care of thousands of children and have met and interacted, with many people of all ethnicities, sexual orientations, economic and religious backgrounds. Together we have worked on and solved many problems. We have found ways to meet the needs of families and children that in some cases went unaddressed for many years.

I have always thrived on solving problems. Buying or selling a property is exactly that, a problem to be solved. If you are a buyer I will help you find the right home in the right neighborhood with the right school district and at a price that fits your budget. After all you will be spending more time at this property than anywhere else. It should meet your needs in every possible way. If you are a first time buyer I want to show you that not only is it possible to purchase a home with little or no money down but it is essential if you ever want to move forward in creating prosperity for yourself.

If you are a seller, let’s get that house listed today. Allow me to help you by developing a dynamic marketing plan that includes targeting the demographic groups who are most likely to want to purchase your property. Let’s get is sold at the best price for the current market in the quickest amount of time.

In life there are major periods of transition that we go through. These might be: the birth of a baby, a marriage, a partnership, a new job, or the end of a relationship such as a death or divorce. Very often real estate plays an important role in allowing us to move forward in our lives. These are often stressful times, sometimes joyful, sometimes not. It is my desire to help in making these transitions a smooth as possible so that everyone involved can take that next important step on their life’s path.

My background is not only in education. While I hold degrees in education at the graduate level, I have also run my own businesses in Tucson and Prescott, AZ. I have built my own house. I play music (piano, banjo), love gardening, have seven children of my own, six of whom I raised as a single parent (just the laundry was overwhelming!), discovered golf six years ago and am addicted to it (I’d also like to be good at it), written a book that nobody reads (I’m fascinated with words), learned how to read horoscopes, am beginning to learn Feng-shui, enjoy skiing and river rafting, start my day with meditation and journaling, love baseball (at every level) and world cup soccer (used to have my referees license), and, of course, I absolutely love children. I grew up in New England but have also lived in Arizona and New York. I moved to the Bay area in 1985 and have lived in South Berkeley since 2001.

As your agent my commitment to you is to adhere to the Realtor's Code of Ethics while serving you with honesty, integrity, and diligence. We’ll have fun together while we address your real estate related needs. Buying or selling your home, like life, like education, is a journey as well as a destination. Enjoy the ride!

TESTIMONIALS
Bill Fletcher became my real estate agent when I relocated from Connecticut to Berkeley. Bill was energetic in searching out houses and condos I might be interested in, and very understanding about what I wanted in a place to live. He was always good humored and patient, although the total time we spent searching was almost a year. He has a comprehensive knowledge of housing in the East Bay area. Through his good efforts I finally located an excellent home. His advice about costs and prices, and about how to navigate the complexities of house inspection reports and other kinds of paper work, was invaluable. I found Bill to be a person of integrity, unusually knowledgeable, and always helpful. I recommend him without reservation to anyone wishing to buy or sell a home. Of the over ten houses I have bought in fifty years, Bill is the best real estate agent I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Thanks so much for all your help in our house search. We LOVE our new home and appreciated your patience, knowledge and easy going nature throughout the process. We will definitely recommend your services to all our friends. Hope to see you again soon.
Congratulations on the closing of the home. This extraordinary escrow seemed to become more challenging as it progressed. And, at points appeared nearly hopeless. But, with your calm demeanor and professional “people skills,” this sale closed with success. I am writing to express my thanks to you for an outstanding performance! Let’s do it again, real soon!
Thank you for hard work, dedication and commitment to the sale of our home. You know this was a very emotional business/personal transaction for me. But you kept me focused and on track. It was hard for me to let go of a home that I was so attached to and raised in. So many years, so many memories... I guess the last chapter has been written and the book now closed. Anyhow, once again, thanks for your patience, and professionalism. You will always come highly recommended.
I want to thank you for your outstanding assistance in selling my condo for more than the asking price in just 5 days! You were with me every step of the way, including during the preparations for marketing the property, and making sure that everything looked perfect for the open houses and broker tours.
As first time homebuyers in the Bay Area, we faced a challenging journey. However, with the upcoming birth of our son, we knew it was time to move out of the city and look for living arrangements which better suited out family. We began by venturing out to open houses in the East Bay without representation. Fortunately, we met Bill early in the process. Although he was hosting an open house, Bill took the time to introduce himself and get to know a little about us. This was very refreshing, since most brokers didn’t seem too interested in talking to first time homebuyers.
Once we started working with Bill, the entire process became much easier. He was extremely knowledgeable about the East Bay housing market and introduced us to a great mortgage broker. After just a few weeks, our home search took an exciting turn when Bill’s prowess helped us find an “under-marketed” property in a great section of El Cerrito. We quickly worked with Bill to craft an offer that was competitive, yet consistent with our financial situation. Much to our surprise, our very first offer was accepted and we began the escrow process.

Once again, Bill’s service and support were flawless. We hit a few bumps in the road when some minor issues with the home were discovered. Bill helped us understand the issues and better yet, negotiated additional money from the seller to help cover the cost of additional repairs. The escrow process concluded and we found ourselves ready to move in. Bill continued to help us after the sale and even volunteered his time to plan a housewarming party for us!

We’ve now been in our new home for three months and are really enjoying life in the East Bay as we await the birth of our first child. We couldn’t have done it without Bill!
Thank you again for helping me find and purchase this awesome little condo. I moved in yesterday and am very happy. Thanks for making the whole process easy. It was Great working with you.
Highly likely to recommend.
Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $275k in Mosswood, Oakland, CA.

We highly recommend Bill Fletcher as a realtor! We just settled into our first home in North Oakland in the neighborhood we wanted, and know we could not have done it without Bill’s help and expertise. He held our hand from start to finish, and was able to answer all of our questions. We had the added complication of a short sale, which didn’t phase Bill. He has been in the business for a while and has a lot of connections, which made the whole process easier. He recommended a great home and pest inspector, who gave us an encyclopedia’s worth of knowledge on our house. His realty’s mortgage lender was able to do a lot of work upfront, to help speed up closing when it was time to move quickly. Bill’s a pleasant chap: a family guy and former educator, which are plusses in our book!!
Patient and kind are the first words I would use to describe Bill. He was our contact realtor while we lived in TX for many years. We kept telling him we were going to move back...Bill never faltered on feeding us current market knowledge, nor lost faith in our claims of us "wanting to return". Finally, in Feb. of 2011 we closed on our dream home in the Oakland Hills. I would not only recommend Bill Fletcher for locals but if you are moving here from out of town, he made it possible to for us to handle many of our necessary transactions from a distance. Thank you Bill we think your the best!
We (my son and I) just sold our house in a slow market with Bill's excellent advice and help as our listing agent. He had excellent connections with various people to supply various needs, too. Chimney work, Staging, Yard work, and more. We would recommend Bill Fletcher to anyone selling a home in the area. He especially knows the South Berkeley area and lives there himself.
If I could give Bill 10 stars in every category, I would!!

Bill helped me buy my first home in 2010. Before I met him, I was worried about getting a real estate agent that was really pushy, because I wasn't sure when my husband and I would be ready to buy a home and I wanted to take it one step at a time. Bill was the perfect match for us! He really listened to what we needed, provided calm guidance and support through every step of the process, and was extremely knowledgeable about other agents and the housing market. We leaned on Bill's expertise many times throughout the searching, bidding and escrow process. He was able to keep us calm when we were freaking out and navigate any problem when it arose, helping us stay on track and finally find the house that was right for us.

If I am ever in the market to buy or sell a home again, I wouldn't think of doing it with anyone else besides Bill.
Bill Fletcher was my realtor last year when I bought a house as a first-time home buyer and a single person. It was a challenging process on many levels and Bill made it possible for me to get through it with a modicum of composure and with certainty that I was doing the right thing. He's very relaxed and also very knowledgeable about the local east bay markets and the local realtors. Maybe because he was a long-time school principal and has a large, multi-generational family, he is very astute when it comes to sizing up people (including sellers and his fellow realtors) and he doesn't get ruffled. There were some rough spots in the purchase of my house, particularly toward the end when we thought for a few days that the deal might not go through. Bill helped me keep my sanity! I'll always be grateful to him for that.

Bill is not just a guy doing a transactional real estate deal. He loves houses and homes. He gets into all the details about a house and its location. He was interested in how various houses I saw would fit with my lifestyle and some of my particular concerns for safety, space, ease of maintenance and, especially, gardening potential. I knew he really wanted me to get just the right house. He suggested a neighborhood I hadn't been familiar with which led me to just the right house for me.

I can't recommend Bill highly enough. I hope others who are looking for a grounded, smart, tenacious, pragmatic realtor will choose Bill Fletcher.
I bought a duplex in Oakland with Bill as my agent.I had a wonderful experiance working with Bill.He is a trustworthy man.
Bill Fletcher was and continues to be a tremendous help. This was my first home, and he was very patient with me as I fumbled through the process. He was very accommodating to my schedule, my price range, and my inexperience. I would recommend him without hesitation
Bill was recommended by a friend as a great real estate agent and we chose him. We were new to CA and were surprised at how differently the market worked out here. Bill was excellent at listening to what we wanted, finding what we asked him to find (and more), and helping us through all the new procedures from bidding to the mortgage contract. With Bill's guidance, we found the house that we wanted and could afford in the neighborhood that we liked. Bill's knowledge, patience and perseverance were key. I recommended him to anyone who needs a real estate agent.
Bill Fletcher helped me sell a house and buy two others. He is an outstanding real estate agent - knowledgeable, completely reliable, cheerful, and understanding. I was most impressed with the fact that over a number of monlths, despite many failures to find a suitable house, Bill continued to find possible houses for me to look at, and to give time and effort until I found the house I was looking for.
We met Bill Fletcher on 12/30/2010. We had just decided to see if we could possibly actually buy a house. It turned out to be our lucky day!
We are not young and didn't have a lot of money to spend, but Bill made us feel like we were just as important as someone with a million dollars.
Every Saturday he was there to take us around to see what was available in our price range and he really paid attention to what we needed and wanted in our new home. He introduced us to the Richmond Annex, which we would never have considered with out his guidance. He walked us thru the process of finding and purchasing a property, and answered our hundreds of questions with honesty and patience. He also was very considerate of our physical needs and only took us to places that would accommodate those needs.
In May he found us the perfect home and we are now living in a lovely place in Richmond with a large backyard, a patio, and a big fir tree.
We love it very much and we love and appreciate the time Bill spent with us. Almost wish we could go thru the process again just so we could spend more time with him, he made it a lot of fun. We would highly recommend Bill to anyone in the market for a new house. What a pleasure it was doing business with Bill and Red Oak Realty.

Thank you so very much for everything.
