We are excited to announce that all of our offices are now green-certified and carbon neutral. We appear to be the first and only real estate company in the Bay Area able to make this announcement.

 

All Red Oak offices are newly or re-certified as "green" by the California Green Business Network. We also purchased "carbon offsets" through Terrapass in an effort to negate our carbon output. This initiative funds local projects like:

 

• Landfill gas capture, which turns garbage into renewable power

• Makes the best possible use of animal waste

• Displacing “dirty” fossil fuels with clean energy from wind farms

• Methane capture at abandoned coal mines

We recognize that offsets are complicated, and while this doesn't truly solve our impact on global warming, it is a very good first step. We strongly recommend that all of you do your part in addressing your carbon output. First, complete the carbon calculator to estimate your footprint, then offset it using Terrapass or a company vetted by the California Green Business Network like:

 

• 3Degrees Inc. helps you purchase California-based carbon offsets from a Certified California Green Business and B-Corp. Projects include applied compost to sequester carbon, wetland restoration to sequester carbon, methane digester to reduce greenhouse gasses.

• To offset your business footprint, Cooler provides an API, Shopify integrations and other ways to automatically calculate and neutralize the greenhouse gas emissions of any service or product you sell. Rather than offset, Cooler neutralizes the footprint by purchasing permits away from polluters and retiring them unused, permanently.

• Zero Foodprint offers better soil management at farms to capture carbon from the atmosphere and reverses the effects of climate change.

• Carbon Lighthouse retires carbon from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative's Cap and trade auctions.
